Course description

The Development Planning 1 course plays a foundational role within the set of major-knowledge courses of the Bachelor's program in Development Economics. The course provides learners with fundamental and systematic knowledge of the theory of development planning in a market economy, as well as the nature, principles, and system of modern development planning. In addition, the course helps learners understand the necessity of renewing planning thinking and methods in the context of Vietnam's transition to a socialist-oriented market economy. Through this, learners are able to apply the acquired knowledge to understand and analyze the basic content of the process of formulating, organizing the implementation of, and monitoring and evaluating socio-economic development plans in Vietnam in the current period.

The main content of the course includes:

(1) Introduction to development planning; (2) Theoretical foundations of development planning; (3) The nature, functions, and principles of development planning; (4) The development planning system by content; (5) Development plan formulation; and (6) Organizing the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of development plans.

Through the above content, the course helps learners acquire the tools and methods to apply to practical work after graduation, meeting the increasingly high demands of the labor market in the field of development planning and management.

Attendance score, assessing participation in class sessions and group activities: 10%

Individual assignment, assessing the ability to apply theory to practice: 20%

Midterm test, assessing the level of CLO attainment at the mid-course stage: 20%

9.2. Final assessment

Final examination, providing an overall assessment of the level of CLO attainment: 50%

The specific rubrics for each assessment method are presented in detail in Appendix 2. The assessment result is a score on a 10-point scale, rounded to 0.5, in accordance with the current training regulations of the National Economics University.
