Course description
In the global business environment, intercultural management competence has become an indispensable factor for modern leaders and managers. The "Cross-Cultural Management" course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive view of the challenges and opportunities in a multicultural work environment. Students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and effectively manage cultural diversity in global organizations.
The main content of the course includes:
The Manager in a Multicultural Work Environment: Exploring the trend of globalization and its impact on multicultural organizations.
Culture and Cultural Differences: Studying cultural theories and cultural differences in order to better understand the factors that create diversity in the business environment.
Culture and the Structure of Multicultural Organizations and Enterprises: Analyzing the influence of culture on organizational structure and the ways of managing multicultural enterprises.
Motivation and Motivating Work in a Multicultural Environment: Examining theories of work motivation and applying them to motivate employees in a multicultural environment.
Processes and Methods for Resolving Cross-Cultural Conflicts: Developing the skills to identify and resolve conflicts arising from cultural differences.
The Skills Required to Work Effectively in a Multicultural Environment: Equipping students with essential skills such as cultural adaptation skills; cross-cultural communication skills; cross-cultural negotiation skills; multicultural teamwork skills, etc.
This course is intended for students of business administration, human resources, and other related fields, as well as managers and leaders in multicultural organizations. Students will practice through scenarios, case studies, and group projects to develop their ability to apply theory effectively to the practice of cross-cultural management.
Course requirements
Regulations on eligibility to take the final examination
The attendance score must be 5 or higher (in accordance with the general regulations of the University).
How the attendance score is assessed: Assessed through the seminar sessions, with a weight of 10% in the course grade; for details, see assessment rubric 7.2.1.
Regulations on class attendance
- Students will not be counted present if they arrive more than 15 minutes late to the seminar session. Students must be present in class at any time when attendance is checked.
- Excused absences that do not reduce the attendance score are only granted for legitimate reasons (hospitalization, sick leave, bereavement, etc.) and must be accompanied by supporting evidence (hospital admission papers, a health examination certificate bearing the original signature of a physician at a medical facility on the list approved by the University's health insurance, a death certificate, etc.).
Regulations on classroom conduct
- Students may not use mobile phones during lecture and seminar sessions. The use of laptops and other electronic devices for purposes not related to learning is discouraged in all classes.
- Students are encouraged to raise their hands to express a wish to ask a question or share an opinion and should wait until they are invited, avoiding a situation where many people speak at the same time.
- Students must engage in discussion on the basis of respecting the differing viewpoints of their classmates and instructors. Heated arguments or physical or verbal attacks in class must be avoided.
