Statistics for Economic and Business provides fundamental knowledge of statistics, including methods of data processing, summarization, and data analysis.
Specifically, the course offers a system of descriptive statistical methods such as tables, graphs, and calculation of characteristic parameters; inferential statistical methods such as estimation, hypothesis testing, regression analysis.
The results derived from statistical analysis serve as a basis for decision-making at both macro and micro levels.
In addition, the course introduces the application of statistical software in data processing and analysis to help learners easily access and apply statistical methods effectively.
Main topics will be covered as follows:
- Introduction to statistics: roles and basic concepts in statistics
- Descriptive statistical methods
- Overview of probability and the Central Limit Theorem
- Estimation and hypothesis testing
- Correlation and regression analysis

Conditions for eligibility to take the final exam
- Students must obtain at least 5 points for class participation (as per the University’s general regulations).
- Evaluation method for class participation: see Appendix 2, Rubric 1.
Attendance policy
- Students are required to attend all class sessions.
- In case of absence due to force majeure, students must actively study the content through materials provided by the instructor and other assigned readings.
Classroom behavior regulations
- The course is conducted on the basis of mutual respect between instructors and learners.
- Students must take complete notes and actively participate in answering questions.
- Required readings must be completed in advance.
- Assigned homework must be completed as scheduled.
- Students should not cause disruption, disturb others, or eat during class.
- Laptops, tablets, and mobile phones may only be used for lecture note-taking and learning-related calculations. Absolutely no use for unrelated purposes is permitted.
Group assignment submission policy
- Learners who fail to submit individual/group assignments as required will receive a score of 0 (zero).
- For late submissions beyond the final deadline, one point will be deducted for each day overdue.
