Course description

The mathematical modeling method (the model method) is widely used in economic research. Economic relationships are constantly changing, complex, and overlapping; the model method, using mathematical language, can describe these relationships in an accurate and vivid manner. Based on mathematical economic models, learners can build scenarios and analyze situations in consumption and production, and from there propose policies. In economics and business administration, learners use parameters estimated from empirical data to find numerical solutions to models (optimal, equilibrium) that support decision-making.

Main contents

- Introduction to mathematical economic models and the modeling method

- Comparative static analysis tools for mathematical economic models

- Overview of static optimization models in economic analysis

- Analysis of the household utility maximization model

- Analysis of the household expenditure minimization model

- Analysis of the firm's cost minimization model

- Analysis of the firm's profit maximization model
