Course description

The Development Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) course belongs to the specialized elective knowledge block of the major, aiming to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and skills to design a process for managing development activities based on the principle of results-based management, including the steps: Planning, Monitoring implementation of the plan, and Evaluating implementation results. Upon completing the course, students will be able to build a results framework for development programs, projects and activities, design an M&E system for the implementation of that results framework, establish tools and templates to collect information and report development results, as well as practice drafting the basic contents of a development results evaluation report.

Course requirements

Regulations on conditions for the final course examination

The attendance score must reach 5 or above (in accordance with the general regulations of the University)

Method for assessing the attendance score: see Appendix 2, rubric 1.

Regulations on class attendance

- Students/learners are responsible for fully attending all class sessions. In case of absence, they must request permission from the lecturer before the session via email or message. Each unexcused absence will result in a deduction of 1 point from the process assessment score. Students who are present at all attendance checks receive only 8 points. If the attendance score is below 5, the student will have to retake the course in accordance with the regulations.

- Students will be awarded 1 additional point if they fully prepare the content assigned by the lecturer as homework after each in-class session. In addition, students will be awarded points for each contribution to building the lesson, which may compensate for the process score, the test score and the group assignment score.

- Students will be assessed on the group assignment score based on the group's score and the level of participation in completing the group assignment as evaluated by the group members. If a student is not present at the presentation session, 50% of the group assignment score will be deducted (in the case where the student participated in preparing the report).

Regulations on classroom behavior

- The course is conducted on the principle of respect for both learners and teachers. Any behavior that affects the teaching and learning process is strictly prohibited.

- When attending class, students must always bring the full set of mandatory course materials (textbook, lecture slides, notebook, and prepared lessons).

- Students must attend class on time. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes after the class has started will not be allowed to attend the session.

- It is absolutely forbidden to make noise or disturb others during the learning process.

- It is absolutely forbidden to eat, drink, chew gum, or use devices such as phones or music players during class.

- Laptops and tablets may only be used for the purpose of taking lecture notes and performing calculations in support of the lecture and exercises; they must absolutely not be used for any other purpose.

Learning outcomes and assessment

The training management system automatically assesses the level of CLO attainment according to the University's general algorithm. The course's learning outcomes are evaluated by students and the University after the final course examination.
