PTCC1103 — Kinh tế Công cộng 1
Course description
The parallel operation of market and non-market mechanisms within the economy raises the question of how far government intervention is reasonable, and what losses the economy must bear as a result of such intervention.
The Public Economics (1) course provides students with an integrated perspective for understanding when the government is considered to intervene in economic activities at the right time and in the right way. In addition, students gain insight into the limitations of the government when it intervenes, so as to develop dialectical thinking when proposing policies.
The course answers three fundamental questions: (i) When is government intervention needed in a market economy; (ii) How can the government make intervention decisions; and (iii) What major policy instruments does the government use to intervene in the economy?
