Course description

The Management Control course is designed to provide in-depth and extended knowledge of the concepts and techniques of management control systems (MCS). MCS are considered to include the various elements that managers use to ensure operational efficiency and, more specifically, to ensure the effective implementation of the company's strategies. With a focus on the role of management control in decentralized organizations, the Course will first focus on how an organization is kept "in control", the alternatives that managers have to ensure good control, as well as how to make appropriate decisions among the alternatives. Next, each element of the "financial control system, which provides the main form of control in most decentralized organizations" will be discussed in detail to support management decision-making at different management levels in the organization. The main contents of the Course will include: The responsibility structure in the organization, the methods of measuring performance, the evaluation of performance taking into account performance targets or other standards, and the use of reward methods to achieve the objectives of management.
