Course description

This course aims to equip learners with fundamental knowledge related to payment and credit in international trade — a relatively complex area, as it involves numerous foreign factors and is usually carried out through banks, institutions that impose fairly strict requirements regarding procedures, processes, and operating principles. The international payment section addresses the key issues that import-export traders must pay attention to when performing an international trade contract in order to settle the contract effectively, such as: the exchange rate used to convert currencies, international means of payment, international methods of payment, and other payment terms in the contract. The international credit section clarifies the forms of international credit, in particular the types of credit that import-export traders may use during the performance of an international trade contract, and the specific issues that must be considered when providing or using a credit facility.

Course requirements

Regulations on eligibility for the end-of-course examination

The attendance score must be 5 or above (in accordance with the University's general regulations)

Method for assessing the attendance score: see Appendix 2, Rubric 1.

Students must attend at least 80% of the total class periods to be eligible to sit the end-of-course examination

Regulations on class attendance

Students are responsible for attending all class sessions. In the event of an absence due to force majeure, full and reasonable supporting documents must be provided. Each absence will result in a deduction of 1 point from the attendance score. Students who are absent for more than 3 sessions, whether with or without justification, are considered not to have completed the course and must register to retake it.

Students will earn bonus points for each constructive contribution to the lesson, which may offset the attendance score.

Students who do not take the individual test will receive a score of 0 (zero).

Students who do not submit the group assignment will receive a score of 0 (zero) for the final assignment. A group that submits its assignment late will have 1 point deducted for each day of late submission.

Regulations on classroom behavior

The course is conducted on the principle of mutual respect between learners and instructors. Any behavior that adversely affects the teaching and learning process is strictly prohibited.

Students must arrive in class on time. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes after the class has started will not be permitted to attend the session.

Making noise or disturbing others during class is strictly prohibited.

Eating, drinking, chewing gum, or using devices such as phones and music players during class is strictly prohibited.

Laptops and tablets may only be used for taking lecture notes and performing calculations in support of the lecture and exercises; using them for any other purpose is strictly prohibited.
