Course description

The English 2 course aims to train and consolidate the skills and knowledge that students acquired in the English 1 course, while expanding and developing those language skills and knowledge so that, by the end of this course, students attain language proficiency and competence at the Intermediate level, ready to continue into the advanced stage of study. This course continues to develop academic language skills and advanced vocabulary, while providing students with additional advanced knowledge of economics and business; at the same time, it helps students use English proficiently so as to be confident in communicating, discussing, presenting, writing summaries and reports, analyzing situations, and solving a number of problems in economics and business. This course equips students with the language skills and knowledge necessary for their future work in a corporate environment.

Course requirements

Regulations on eligibility for the end-of-course examination

The attendance score must reach 5 or above (in accordance with the University's general regulations)

Method of assessing the attendance score: see Appendix 2, rubrics 1.

Regulations on class attendance

Students/learners are responsible for fully attending all class sessions. In case of absence due to force majeure, full and reasonable supporting documents must be provided. Each absence will result in a deduction of 1 point from the process assessment score. Students who are absent for more than 3 sessions, whether with or without a valid reason, will be deemed not to have completed the course and must re-register for it.

Students will earn additional points for each constructive contribution to the lesson, which may compensate for the process score, test score, and group assignment score.

Students who do not submit the group assignment will receive a score of 0 (zero) for the final assignment. A group of students who submit late will be deducted 1 point for each day of late submission.

Regulations on classroom conduct

The course is conducted on the principle of mutual respect between learners and instructors. Any behavior that affects the teaching and learning process is strictly prohibited.

Students must arrive in class on time. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes after the class has started will not be allowed to attend the session.

Making noise that disturbs others during class is absolutely prohibited.

Eating, drinking, chewing gum, and using devices such as phones or music players during class are absolutely prohibited.

Laptops and tablets may only be used for the purpose of taking lecture notes and performing calculations in support of the lecture and exercises; they must absolutely not be used for any other purpose.

The overall result is rounded to 0.5

The training management system automatically assesses the level of CLO attainment according to the University's general algorithm. The course learning outcomes are assessed by students and the University after the end-of-course examination.
